ith the objective of supporting the establishment of the Micro finance sector, the Central Bank of Sudan has established a self autonomy microfinance division within the Central Bank’s Financial Institutions and System Wing (FISW).

The purpose of this division will be to promote sustainable micro finance (both Islamic and Conventional) in Sudan in compliance with the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.. Microfinance is seen by the Central Bank of Sudan as a viable financial sector instrument for enhancing access to financial services for the poor, alleviating poverty, promoting economic development and empowering women. Its strategy is to promote micro finance through both banks and non-bank financial institutions, and to facilitate the use of both government and non-government financial and technical resources

To establish a suitably and enabling environment for the micro finance sector to develop, we envisage the importance of strengthening the human capacity of the Central Bank of Sudan , all services providers i.e. IMFs, Commercial banks plus the proponent, through the improvement in policies, procedures and institutional frameworks, technical and human capacities of a diverse number of actors providing services

We are establishing connections and linkages with outstanding MFIs and IFIs to share their experience and information to assist us in building the Micro-finance sector and strategizing the Microfinacne activities in Sudan
